Cristal 33

Cristal 33

Cristal 33 A higher-order version of the Cristall 9 and Cristall 19, also by Jean-Claude Constantin. The objective is to separate all of the wooden pieces and reassemble them in the octahedral configuration shown in the picture. Made in two woods by Jean-Claude Constantin. Jean-Claude Constantin lives in Germany, where he designs and manufactures many different wood and metal puzzles, as well as magic tricks and other intellectual toys and games.

Trying to see how pieces fit and re-assessing where they might go when they don’t fit is a good exercise in checking and re-evaluating choices. Each piece can only go in to one place so there is none of the compromising and trading-off that takes place in so many other aspects of modern life. This forces the player to constantly re-evaluate their decisions, and teaches patience with the process as it is an integral part of the game.
