Famous Trick Donkeys – Classic Edition
Famous Trick Donkeys – Classic Edition One of the most popular puzzles ever created is the “Trick Donkeys” puzzle. Invented by America’s premier puzzlist, Sam Loyd, and patented in 1871, there have been millions of copies produced and distributed. Through the years the puzzle has had various names including ‘P.T. Barnum’s Trick Mules’ and was used to promote anything, from the famous Barnum’s circus to department stores. Printed are two donkeys and two jockeys. Cut along the lines and lay the three pieces down so as to show the jockeys racing.
Trying to see how the pieces fit and re-assessing where they can go if they do not fit is a good exercise to check and re-evaluate the choices. Each piece can only come in one place, so there is no compromise and negotiation that takes place in so many other aspects of modern life. This forces the player to continually re-evaluate his decisions and learns to be patient with the process because it is an integral part of the game.
