Nagelbrett

Nagelbrett

Nagelbrett A more challenging version of the Mini Pins puzzle (also by Jean-Claude Constantin). There are three obstacles to replacing the pieces back into the frame:1) The usual challenge of a packing puzzle2) The presence of the square-shaped gap in the middle of the puzzle3) The metal pins mean that the entire set of pieces, once assembled correctly relative to each other, must be correctly oriented relative to the frame (i.e. each piece has only one correct position – no rotations or mirror solutions)Each piece only has one hole, so in the empty frame, any piece can fit with any of the pegs. Made in laser-cut wood and stainless steel by Jean-Claude Constantin. Jean-Claude Constantin lives in Germany, where he designs and manufactures many different laser-cut wood puzzles, as well as metal puzzles and magic tricks.

Trying to see how the pieces fit and re-assessing where they can go if they do not fit is a good exercise to check and re-evaluate the choices. Each piece can only come in one place, so there is no compromise and negotiation that takes place in so many other aspects of modern life. This forces the player to continually re-evaluate his decisions and learns to be patient with the process because it is an integral part of the game.
