Philos-Cube Edition II This stunning set features six fine-quality puzzles: four have been designed by Juha Levonen and two by Georg Pfäffinger.The Juha Cubes #2, 8, 12, and 19 are part of the Juha Cubes series, which was started by Juha Levonen in the 1990s. All feature pieces that must be rotated once inserted. This type of movement cannot be tracked by typical solving programs like BurrTools.The Geronimo and Coshise puzzles are both designed by Georg Pfäffinger. All puzzles are made in Samena wood and include Philos’ trademark cover, which displays the solved puzzle while still holding the pieces together. Philos is a German puzzle manufacturer that started in 1996 as a manufacturer and distributor of toys. They make a wide variety of wooden puzzles, as well as some less common strategy games, playing cards, and dice.    

The first thing you see when looking at any puzzle is the photo or illustration of the completed puzzle. On choosing, remember that the image should have some educational value but also be something the child can relate to. If the image is familiar to the child or fulfills the educational objective (like learning colours or naming objects), the experience of completing the puzzle will be all the more enjoyable, satisfying and productive. The image should be easily recognizable so the child can identify it as something they see around them in their everyday life. It should also have distinguishable features to help them decide where to put the piece so that it ends up in the right place.
