Perhaps this is why consumption of black tea has been found to reduce the risk of coronary heart disease in The Netherlands and in men and women in the USA but not in the UK where milk is customarily added to tea.And you thought specialty coffees were expensive….The most expensive coffee bean in the world is produced on the Indonesian island of Sumatra. Called Kopi Luwak the price can run as high as $300 a pound. A luwak is actually a small civit-like mammal that lives in trees. One of their favorite foods is the red, ripe coffee cherry. The luwaks eat the cherries, bean and all. While in the luwak’s stomach the bean ferments, finishes it journey through the digestive system then exits. The still intact beans are collected from the forest floor, clean then roasted and ground like other coffees. The resulting coffee has a rich, heavy flavor with hints of caramel and chocolate. The average annual total production is only around 500 pounds of beans. Comes in two individual packages of 54 cards each.
