HoKey CoKey – Trick Puzzle Lock Jury 1st Prize at the IPP 2019 Competition You’ve sung the song…  You’ve danced the dance….  Now own the puzzle lock. The HoKey Cokey Lock is a trick opening lock which means it opens in a non-conventional secret manner. In the USA the song the lock is named after is known as the “Hokey Pokey” and in New Zealand the “Hokey Tokey”.  The puzzle has been made by modifying a standard brass padlock.  The Hokey Cokey Lock is the first puzzle lock designed by Ali Morris and was Steve’s exchange puzzle at the 38th International Puzzle Party and the first TwoBrassMonkeys puzzle to be made. Each puzzle comes with a keychain bottle opener (which vary in color).The whole puzzle, including keys, weighs about 175g, and stands about 90mm tall by 40mm wide.

Trying to see how pieces fit and re-assessing where they might go when they don’t fit is a good exercise in checking and re-evaluating choices. Each piece can only go in to one place so there is none of the compromising and trading-off that takes place in so many other aspects of modern life. This forces the player to constantly re-evaluate their decisions, and teaches patience with the process as it is an integral part of the game.
