Turnip Puzzle

Turnip Puzzle Please note that the color of this puzzle varies. The Turnip Puzzle was created by the talented Russian designer Vladimir Krasnoukhov for IPP29 (International Puzzle Party) which was hosted in San Francisco in 2009. The puzzle consists of 12 elements or pieces. The goal is to complete the following objectives:1) Using all 12 elements of the set, make the 20 shapes as pictured in the instructions.2) Using all elements of the set, make simultaneously 3 shapes the silhouettes of which are identical.3) Take 3 elements of the set and make a shape shich can be made using all 12 elements of the set. Instruction sheet included.

The simplicity of the puzzles is misleading. Although the concept is quite simple – finding the pieces and repairing them together – an amazing level of mental activity is required to complete the necessary steps to complete a puzzle. Psychological studies have identified a number of thought processes that are necessary to achieve what is in fact a complex process of identifying shapes and images and relating them to a general pattern. More importantly, solving puzzles is great work for the brain and can have therapeutic benefits.
